About PDFjojo

PDFjojo is a free-first PDF toolkit: edit, compress, merge, convert, sign and organize documents with a simple interface inspired by modern online PDF editors.

What you can do

Edit text and annotations in the browser, merge or split files, compress for email, convert between PDF and images or Office formats, run OCR on scans, and protect or unlock PDFs when server tools are available.

How it is built

The platform is plain PHP with a flat-file JSON database — no heavy framework required. Client-side tools use PDF.js and pdf-lib. Heavier jobs use qpdf, Ghostscript, Poppler, LibreOffice, Tesseract and OCRmyPDF when those programs are installed on the server.

Privacy-minded defaults

Browser tools keep work on your device. Server jobs store files only temporarily and delete them automatically. We do not require an account for basic use.
